On April 30th, William "Bill" Harvey Pickens, Jr of Wolcott, VT passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.
He was born in Northfield, VT in 1946. He graduated from Saint Michael's High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Kathleen O'Connell. He was proud to be a Veteran and honorably served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
When Bill returned from over seas, he graduated from VTC with a degree in Electrical Engineering and spent most of his career as a supervisor for Morrisville Water & Light and later at Hardwick Electric Dept.
While the electric companies were his job, his real love was being outdoors, hunting and trapping. Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He spent many years as an instructor and President of The Vermont Trappers Association, and was proud to serve for six years as a member of the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Board.
Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen Pickens, his two daughters; Holly Pickens (and Shelley Martin) and Karen and her husband Joe Hatch, his grandchildren; Grace (and Adam Johnson), Julia (and Matthieu Choiniere) and Ethan Hatch, great-grandson Jack William, his sisters; Margaret McGoff and Kellie Devan (and Paul), his step siblings; Jennifer Kulp and Kevin Kulp (and Peggy).
He is predeceased by his mother, Paula Kulp, his father William Pickens, his beloved uncles; Paul and Conrad Gordon and his brother-in-law Tom McGoff.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 16, 2024 in Elmore Cemetery, Rte 12, Elmore, VT. A potluck celebration of life will be held at the United Community Church in Morrisville following the graveside service.
