Sue Osborn Obituary

Sue H. Osborn, 87, of Morrisville VT died peacefully at The Manor after a brief illness on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025.

Sue was predeceased by her husband Jon Osborn and nephew Tyler Harman. She is survived by her brother Bill Harman of Keene, NH; son Ron Osborn and spouse Diana of Johnson VT; daughter Sherry Osborn of Hinesburg, VT; grandchildren Sam Cole-Osborn and spouse Lauren and Ben Osborn and spouse Mattie Hallett-Osborn; nephew Christopher Harman.

Sue’s first love, and perhaps fondest memory, was caring for and riding horses at school and during summers at Caldale Capers on Lake Willoughby. She became a blue-ribbon equestrian in her teens. Though Sue then trained as a nurse, graduating from the Geneva School of Practical Nursing, she soon married and became a full-time mother and wife.

Sue/Ma/Mom/Gram never missed her children’s and grandchildren’s band concerts, graduations, sports events, soap box derby or theater productions. Sue was a devoted volunteer, a consummate organizer and bookkeeper. She loved working alongside the ladies at Second Chance where she served for over 20 years. She held multiple roles with the local Girl Scouts from service unit coordinator, to cookie chairman, and day camp tent peg pounder.

Sue lived as she died: fiercely independent, generous, stubborn, courageous, loving and private. In the last week of her life she felt it was important to make her dying easier for others.

To her many friends around town who helped Sue, both in her home and while out and about, your companionship provided great joy and allowed her to live independently until this summer.

We are deeply indebted to the staff at The Manor who showered her with loving care in her final months. To be seen, known and heard at a time of such vulnerability, is a pure gift.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Manor to support staff tuition reimbursements by noting the Gerald Nelson Fund in the memo line of a check.

At Sue’s request, there is no obituary photo or public service. And although she didn’t want us to, we will have a casual, drop-in gathering Saturday, December 6, 2:00-4:00 at River Arts, 74 Pleasant St. Morrisville, VT.
