Stevens Barclay, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026 at his home in Hardwick with loving family by his side. He was the husband of Susan (Prescott) Barclay, whom he married on September 11, 1964, and shared with her sixty one devoted years.
He was born on November 17, 1941 in Calais, VT to Pearly and Doris Barclay. Stevens attended Montpelier High School and later went on to work at Rouleau Granite for over thirty years until retirement.
Stevens was a member of the American Legion Post #7 in Hardwick. He enjoyed hunting with the boys, going gambling with his wife, and taking his dog for walks. He will be remembered for his unwavering convictions, loyalty, devotions to his family, steadfast nature, and love for his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Barclay, his children Kevin (and wife Kathy) Barclay and Karen Barclay, his grandchildren; Melissa Thayer, Brittany Thayer, Kory Barclay, and Kolin Barclay, as well as four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Robert "Bobby" Barclay and his beloved dog Cooper. Stevens was predeceased by his parents and twelve siblings.
In honor of his wishes, no services will be held. He was a great man who was loved and cherished and though his presence will be missed by many, we will keep his spirit alive in our hearts and home.
