Sharon Lois (Johnson) Shatney

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Sharon Lois Shatney on November 3, 2024, in Barre, Vermont. Born on November 13, 1941, in Websterville, Vermont, Sharon was the cherished daughter of Russell Card and Olive Johnson.

Sharon’s life was marked by love, creativity, and dedication to her family and community. She is survived by her husband, Henry Baer, and her children: Tammi Morgan and husband Lyle of Orange, VT; Stephanie Parks and her partner Kerry Lamphear of Middlesex, VT; Stephen Beede and his wife Ute of Williamstown, VT; Robert Shatney of Barre, VT and Troy Shatney and his wife Christina of Campton, NH. Sharon was a proud grandmother to Mason, Caleb, and Alex Shatney; Amanda and Alyxzandrya Shatney; Danielle Graves, and Garrett Lemieux, and a devoted great-grandmother to Alyvia Durrett and Liam Graves. She is also remembered by her brother, Ross Card, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sharon was predeceased by her parents, her sister Teddi Lemieux, and her brother Jack Johnson.

Sharon’s passion for dancing and her talent for oil painting were expressions of her vibrant spirit. A graduate of Spaulding High School in Barre, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts from CCV. She had a varied and fulfilling career, including work at Howard Johnson’s Restaurant in Berlin, Vermont, 25+ years in management at Central Vermont Physicians Practices Corp., and as a trusted realtor in the Barre community.

Sharon’s family will gather privately to celebrate her life. In her memory, donations to the Central Vermont Humane Society are welcome, honoring her lifelong love and care for animals.
