Sally Schumann, 84, died on Saturday, July 26th at home, peacefully with her loving family at her side. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, Nana, Great Nana, Aunt and friend. The oldest of three sisters, Sally was born on November 6, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY. Her parents, Emil & Salvatris (Leone) Provenzano, sister Barbara Gioia, and son in law, Roger Kellogg predeceased her. Sally lived every day with a mission to be kind, caring, considerate, selfless and loving to all. Sally married her second husband Kenneth Schumann in October 1981, in Manalapan, NJ combining their two families and together raised five teenagers. Eventually they resided in an empty nest and began to pursue new interests. In 1989 they purchased an old farm house in Stowe Vermont and converted it to a B&B the Woodchip Inn. Ken’s elderly parents, Kurt & Louise were unable to fend for themselves so were relocated to Stowe and joined Sally at the Inn. During Ken’s absence, including running their B&B, Sally became the primary caregiver of her in-laws until they passed mid/late1991. Sally had a passion for animals, cats, dogs, all animals. She was particularly fond of her German Shepherd Gypsy who she chose to breed (while still in NJ) results 8 pups sold 5, gifted 2, kept 1 (Bismarck).
Sally is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Schumann; sister Jeanette Provenzano; daughter, Dawn Kellogg; sons, John (Christine) and James (Alison) DeRienzo; stepson, Kenneth Jr. (Missy); stepdaughter, Karen (Lou) Grzyb; seven grandchildren, Courtney (Ty) Smith, Amanda (Raffi) Vargas, Olivia (Jeff) Savarino, Rebecca (Roel) Brusselmans, and Carmen, Max and Gus DeRienzo. She had an embroidered pillow that read “If I had known grandchildren were this much fun, I would have had them first”. She was exuberant about her two great grandchildren Maria Vargas (3), plus new arrival Emilia Savarino.
