Ruth M. (Clark) Goodell

Ruth M. (Clark) Goodell, 67, of Morrisville, VT passed away on January 12, 2026, peacefully at UVM Medical Center surrounded by her family following a long, courageous struggle with cancer. 

Born on July 3rd, 1958 in Waterbury, VT, she was the daughter of Julia Clark and Joseph Clark Sr.  Ruth graduated from Hardwood Union High School and began her health care career in nursing at Dumont Nursing Home (which was rebranded Genesis Healthcare) and then she worked at Copley Hospital. After retirement from Copley Hospital, Ruth began providing private care for local residents in Morrisville.

Ruth married Michael Goodell on May 23rd, 1975 in Morrisville, VT. They were happily married until Michael passed away in 2015. Ruth enjoyed traveling to Maine, admiring lighthouses, cooking, shopping and spending time with her sisters. 

Ruth is survived by her son Shawn Goodell and his partner Sierra, of Morrisville, VT., her grandson Hayden (20) of Hyde Park, VT and son Zachary Goodell of Morrisville, VT. She also leaves behind her sisters Ellie Hubble of Waterbury and Melissa and her husband Jack Hollen of Lowell.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Clark Sr., Julia Clark, her spouse of 40 years, Michael Goodell and her siblings Norma Fleury, George Clark, Susan Lafley and Joseph Clark Jr. 

Services will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 at 11am at the Pleasant View Cemetery, a reception at the Morrisville VFW to follow. Ruth was entrusted to Holcomb-des Groseilliers Funeral Home in Hardwick, VT.
