Robert Harrison Lewis

Robert Harrison Lewis, born November 4 1948 in Newport, Vermont to Arthur and Doris (Twombly) Lewis, died August 27th, 2024 peacefully at his home in Hardwick, Vermont surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Jo (Wolfgram) Lewis, sister Linda Chewning, daughter Megan Koehler, step-children Erica and Chad Wolfgram, grand children Andrew, Amber, Cierra, Cydney, Carter and several great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by brother Terry and sister Martha.

Rob served proudly as an Army Ranger of the 173D Airborne Brigade in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. Upon returning from the war, Rob received a degree in finance and used his education as a financial advisor in California, then later as an Economic Developer in Michigan. Having grown up in a family who owned a local grocery store in Derby, VT, his passion for growing small businesses was evident with his work in Holt, Michigan where he took a small farm town to a thriving Main Street USA. He was influential in bringing life to his own community and took pride in providing financial resources to local business, which carried over to his work as Town Manager in Hardwick, Vermont.

Throughout his life, Rob enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, reading and had so much love for dogs. Upon retirement, he enjoyed Tuesday night golf club, boating and spending time with his family on Seymour Lake. His love of the Northeast Kingdom was expressed through his beautiful flower garden and passion for the outdoors.

Rob will be remembered for his wit and sense of humor, love of food and family. A celebration of life will be held later this fall. The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Caledonia Hospice and Home Health and the Hardwick Health Center for their kindness, support and compassion during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 5, 2024 at 1:00pm at Rob and Jo's home on Center Road in Hardwick.
