Richard Eugene Cote

Richard E. Cote passed away on July 24, 2024 in Morrisville, Vermont at the age of 76.

Born in Morrisville on December 27, 1947 to the late Roger and Marie Cote, Richard was a lifelong resident of Morrisville. He graduated from Peoples Academy in 1966. Following graduation, he worked various construction jobs. Always one for an adventure, Richard spent several years backpacking across Europe. After returning to Vermont and gaining extensive knowledge and experience with automobiles, particularly classic cars, he opened Richard’s Auto Body & Repair, an automobile restoration business in Morrisville.  In 1990 Richard expanded his entrepreneurship to include Richard’s Limousine Service, providing businesses and the general public with transportation needs. He continued to operate both businesses until his passing.

Richard is survived by his siblings, David Cote and wife, Sarinthip “Aoi”, Paulette Philbrook, Chris Cote and wife, Debbie, Edward Cote, Angela Cote and husband, Stuart along with several nieces and nephews.

Richard consistently demonstrated an impeccable work ethic with anything he took on, always striving to go above and beyond what was expected of him.

Richard particularly enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others and will lovingly be remembered as a kind and generous friend to all.  We will forever celebrate the gift of Richie’s life and will mourn its loss.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Most Holy Name of Jesus parish in Morrisville, Vermont.  Visitation will be Friday, August 9, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Crosby Center at the Most Holy Name of Jesus parish in Morrisville. Interment will be held on Friday, June 20th at 1pm in the Mountain View Cemetery, 167 Walton Rd, Morristown, VT 05661.
