Queenie Woods Brown died peacefully on January 18, 2025, at The Manor in Morrisville VT at the age of 95.
Born May 16,1929 in Cambridge MA to George H. Woods and Toini Issacson Woods, Queenie grew up by Spy Pond in Arlington MA and attended Arlington Public Schools. After graduating from Arlington High School in 1947, she worked in Boston where she met her future husband Charles R. Brown. Together they had three sons.
Queenie & Bob had many happy years together enjoying time spent with family and friends at the beach in Westport and raising her young sons in Foxboro, MA. After Bob’s 1981 passing, Queenie moved to Johnson VT to be nearer to her grandchildren, working at Grand Union in Morrisville and at Thomas Hirchak Commission Sales in Hyde Park.
In the early nineties, Queenie settled down at Merriam Village in Weston MA, where she spent time reconnecting with old friends and traveling to faraway places.
She leaves sons Bill Brown and wife Betsy from Elmore VT, Charlie and wife Lisa from Eagle CO and Douglas from Minturn CO. As well as grandchildren Jeremy, Spencer (Alison), Stephen (Katherine), and Sam; great grandchildren, Cannon, Charlotte, Brooke, Laila, and Benjamin.
The family would like to thank family-friend, Marje Kelso for her loving support of Queenie. Thanks also to Craftsbury Community Care Center, Lamoille Home Health & Hospice and The Manor for their top-notch care and support throughout her time spent with them.
A private graveside ceremony will be held for family at Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree, MA in the Spring.
