Peter J. Blanchard, 69, of Hardwick, has left this earth too soon. Sadly, on Aug. 23, 2025 cancer took him from the home, from the arms, from the hearts of those who love him dearly. No words can describe how greatly he is missed. Peter was born on August 23, 1956 in Cambridge, one of three siblings born to Francis P. Blanchard and Marion (LaPoint) Blanchard. He visited his parents regularly at the Fletcher Cemetery. He is survived by his sons, grandchildren, his sister, brother, cousins, nieces & nephews.
Pete also had many friends, lending a hand when he could with a sense of humor, witty comebacks, and enjoyed making people smile. He enjoyed going to the shooting range and spoke highly of all he met there. He was well-read, especially enjoyed history, and had a broad understanding of diverse subjects. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge within various discussions with all who had the pleasure of knowing and interacting with him.
Peter proudly served 4.5 honorable years in the Marine Corps. “Sempher Fi”. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Sharp Shooter Badge and his primary specialty was an Anti Tank Assault Man. His last mission to serve his Country was in Vietnam near the end of the War. After coming home, he quietly battled PTSD and has been, for the most part, a private man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature, it was his peace. He was an articulate Carpenter and Artist, whose beautiful work will be appreciated by all those who own, have, and admire it in the future.
Pete, for a time was known in Morrisville and beyond as “The guy with the Big White Dog.” Best of friends for many years. Much appreciation from me to “A” for this gift, a good, humbled life for them both during their time together.
A small private gathering, a celebration of life, will be held at a later undetermined date by his loved ones. Arrangements had been made at des Groseillers Funeral home in Hardwick. Much appreciation to Doug and Nicole for helping us navigate through this. Memories of Peter may be shared at dgfunerals.com.
