Normand D. Salvas, age 92 of Morrisville, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, December 30, 2024, at The Manor in Morrisville with his family by his side.
Normand was born on January 26, 1932, in Stowe, the son of Wilfred and Marie (Pouliot) Salvas on the family farm, now known as the Trapp Family Lodge. As a young child the family moved to Huntington where he attended elementary school. Normand served in the army from 1952 to 1954. Early on, he found his lifelong career in construction. Salvas Construction was in existence for over 40 years. At the age of 85 due to health issues our father finally was forced to hang up his hammer.
Our father was known for many things – dedication, a helping-hand, hard work, resilience, his dry sense of humor and his faith. He overcame several challenges in life and continually beat them all. He was never one to give up and accepted each challenge with grace and fortitude.
Later in life, our father met the love of his life, Linda Jones. Linda would teach our father what it meant to have fun. During their time together, they traveled to wonderful places, including Italy, Hawaii, and Mexico. They brought immense joy to each other’s lives.
Normand is survived by his three children, Anita (Paul), Bethany (Garret), and Courtney (Faith); grandchildren, Schuyler (Morgan) Biasini, Rachel MacAdams, Paul (Tori) Masse, Nathalie Hirchak (Jack Clewes) and James Salvas; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Bingham, Maeve and Lainey Biasini, Cerelia Masse and Oslo Clewes; siblings, Jerome (Joan) Salvas and Hismarian (Michael) Fitzgerald; along with several nieces and nephews.
Normand was predeceased by his parents, former wife, Camilla, and siblings, Ernest, Florence, & Leonard.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff at the Manor Nursing Home for their exceptional care, kindness, and support given to our father during his time there.
Funeral mass at 11:00 AM on January 11 will be held at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Church in Morrisville with a reception to follow at the Crosby Center.
Funeral arrangements are being made by des Groseilliers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Normand’s name may be made to Lamoille Area Cancer Network P. O.
