Meredith “Allen” Gagne age 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Morrisville, February 25, 2026. He was born August 9, 1957 in Morrisville, VT
Allen graduated from Missisquoi Valley Union High School in Swanton, VT. In March 1976, he followed in his mother’s footsteps and joined the US Navy. He served with NMCB 3 Blue Team, (Seabees) based out of Port Hueneme, CA. He spent a lot of time at Subic Bay, Philippines over the course of 4 tours to the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged in March of 1981 having earned the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. He lived in Nevada for a few years before returning to VT. For the last 37 years Allen worked for Salvas Inc. of Stowe, VT where he excelled as the “Pit Manager” running the quarry, operating equipment, maintaining the equipment, keeping up with all the safety protocols required.
Allen is survived by his parents Diane and Aurele Gagne of Swanton, brothers; David of Swanton, Paul (Cathy) of Fruitland Park, FL, Mike (Jesica) of Tyler, TX, Phillip (Celeste) of Bakersfield, Lionel (Janice) of Georgia, VT and Pierre of Swanton as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who he left with many good memories.
Al was loved by all who knew him and everyone looked forward to times spent with him. Allen was quiet by nature, but he loved to rib anyone, every time he got a chance. He had a great laugh, a big heart and gave the best hugs.
The family would also like to acknowledge the many years of loving care he provided for his grandparents, Neva and Meredith Marshia, who he lived with until his grandmother moved to a nursing home at the age of 100.
Allen is predeceased by his grandparents as well as a brother, Roger.
Services for Allen will be held this summer at the convenience of the family.
