Margaret Woodard Obituary

Margaret F. Woodard (Tobin) passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and quiet generosity.

Margaret found joy in caring for others, especially through the gifts she lovingly created with her hands. She loved to sew and knit, taking special pride in making hats and mittens for children at local schools so no child would go without warmth. She also made bibs and lap robes, which she generously donated to nursing home residents to bring them comfort.

Margaret was a dedicated and hardworking woman throughout her life, working on a rip saw in Winooski at a furniture company and later at Ethan Allen Furniture. She spent many years traveling cross-country with a moving company alongside her former husband and treasured a memorable trip to Europe with her sister-in-law, Joan Tobin.

For more than twenty years, Margaret also enjoyed winters in South Carolina, where she built many cherished friendships, including close bonds with Glenda, Maxine, Ruth, and many others. Above all, Margaret was a devoted mother who lovingly raised her two sons, Clayton and Richard Whittemore, after the passing of their father at a young age, while also caring for her stepchildren, Neal Woodard and Dana Gingras.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Natalie and Albert Tobin; her sister, Bertha Grenier; her brother Walter Tobin and his wife Joan, and her younger brother Arthur Tobin. She leaves behind her loving family: sons Clayton Whittemore (Janet) and Richard Whittemore (Nicole); stepson Neal Woodard (Tammy); stepdaughter Dana Gingras; grandchildren Nicole Whittemore, Ryan Whittemore, Joshua Whittemore, Chelsea Turner, Taylor Gingras, Hunter Gingras, Ben Woodard, and Alden Woodard; great-grandchildren Logan Tallman, Emmelia Whittemore, Iyla Whittemore, Lane Tallman. Margaret also leaves behind; her brother Robert Tobin and wife Donna, as well as her brother Albert Jr Tobin and wife Marleen.

A graveside service will be held on June 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Waterville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lamoille Home Health & Hospice or the Lamoille Area Cancer Network in Margaret’s memory.
