Lucille Doris (Jones) Taft, 89 of North Wolcott Vermont, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on September 4th, 2025. Lucille was born on July 21st, 1936 to Edward and Elizabeth (Gay) Jones. On October 30th,1954 she married Heber Taft.
Lucille is survived by her daughter’s Connie Deuso and JoAnn Taft. Lucille also leaves behind grand children Howard (Charlene) Deuso, Danielle Carroll and Melissa (Joel) VanDyk, great grandchildren Leah and C.J. Deuso, Daemiyn Spaulding, Alexis and Ariana VanDyk, sister in laws Barbara Darrah and Eva Bapp along with several nieces and nephews.
Before her decline in health, she had worked at Aubuchon Hardware at various locations but Morrisville was her favorite. She was also an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 7779 as the Treasurer and Secretary.
In her younger years she enjoyed berry picking, bowling and those Saturday night dances at the Hyde Park VFW with her beloved friend Phillip Brown. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and never liked to sit still. Even when her memory wasn’t what it used to be , you could always find her walking with her grand dogs and causing trouble.
Lucille was predeceased by her husband Heber Taft, sister and brother in law Milda and Allen Carpenter, brother and sister in law Kenny and Suzanne Jones, sister and brother in law Rhoda Bedell and Leon Whitcomb, son in law Ronald Deuso, brother in laws Bernie Bapp and David Darrah and great grandson Jacob VanDyk.
Services will be held at the Plains Cemetery in Hyde Park, VT on September 20th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a reception immediately following the services at the River Arts Center, 74 Pleasant St Morrisville, VT until 3:00pm. Please use the municipal parking lot.
