Lenora Ann (Holt) Thompson of Woodbury passed away on Tuesday, November 7. She did not survive a recent surgery.

Lenora was born in Montpelier on August 31, 1935 to Burton and Nora (Ellis) Holt. Lenora grew up in North Montpelier, VT and graduated salutatorian with honors from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1953. She married Kenneth Thompson of Woodbury on November 11, 1954.

Lenora was a member of the Calais Woodbury United Church. She worked most of her career (while raising four children) for the United States Postal Service. She started as a part time clerk and retired as Postmaster. Lenora loved accounting and was a stickler for accuracy. Prior to the postal service she worked for Woodbury Credit Union and held several positions in Woodbury town government. After retiring from the US Postal Service and up to the time of her passing, she did all the accounting and banking for Thompson Lumber and Woodbury Golf Course as well as serving customers in the Pro Shop. She loved gardening and was a healer of all things green. Many days during the summer she could be seen pushing her lawn mower. Upon retiring from the USPS at age 62, Lenora decided to learn to paint. Hundreds of her beautiful stills, landscapes, covered bridges, water mills and light houses are now hanging on walls all over the Northeast and beyond.

Lenora is survived by her children; Jeffrey (Earlene), Darwin (Brenda), Kirk (Annette) Thompson and Susan Ducharme as well as 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Kenneth Thompson and her sister Roberta Derbyshire.

The family is honoring Lenora's wishes and will be holding a celebration of her life in late summer 2024 ...TBA.
