Lawrence Ralph Bailey

Lawrence (Larry) R. Bailey, 92, of Hardwick, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at the Genesis Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in St. Johnsbury. 

Larry was born on July 3, 1931 in Plainfield, VT to Ralph and Katherine (Felix) Bailey and was one of three children. Larry enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17 and served in Paris, France almost four years, during which time he proudly recalled his service as a member of President Eisenhower's Honor Guard while over seas. After his military service, Larry worked as a car salesman and then as a cattle dealer. He will also be remembered for his love of gambling, specifically poker, as well as his love for reading and the many hours spent working on puzzles. 

He leaves behind his long-time partner, Nancy King Chaffee, his daughter Doris (and husband Bill) McCanna, his son George (and wife Regina), son Richard (and wife Dawn), and daughter Kathy Walbridge. Larry is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as step-sons Fernand Brochu and Kevin (and wife Julie) Brochu. Larry was predeceased by his brother George and sister Lucille as well as step-children; Jeannine, Laurette and Bobby Brochu.
