Kathryn (Ramsdell) Patoine passed away peacefully at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH on Sunday, October 6th, 2024.
She was born in her childhood home to Malcolm and Evelyn (Robinson) Ramsdell on June 17, 1943. She was raised and educated in Lyndonville, VT, and graduated from Lyndon Institute. Kathy worked for many years at the St. Johnsbury Trucking Company as a secretary before meeting the love of her life, Victor Patoine. They married on October 4, 1975 and had a strong, supportive partnership until he passed away in May 2011.
Kathy loved being the older sister and was always ready to help her four younger siblings-Judy Cushman, David Ramsdell, Jim Ramsdell and Karen Skinner, or tell them what to do! She was excellent at organizing things, and every year for many years was a strong force in helping organize the huge Patoine family Christmas parties, many gatherings in Lyndonville with family, as well as leading the St. Norbert’s church ladies group for many years. She was a friendly and involved part of the family business of P and R Lumber in Wolcott, VT until 2021.
Kathy was a hard-working mom to her two children, Ben Patoine and Anna (Patoine) Edwardson. She went out of her way to be helpful and do everything she could to make everyone’s lives easier. One of her greatest joys were her ‘grandbabies’-Ella and Carl Edwardson, and Andrew and Scott Patoine. She loved to snuggle with them to read and play games when they were younger, and just spend time with them as they grew older. She was always very proud to share what they were up to and share pictures of them.
Kathy loved going on rambling drives with Victor and her children, going for walks, reading and finding ways to go to the snack bar or other restaurants to eat! She loved spending time with family, and every weekend would enjoy visiting family.
Her surviving family include her son, Benjamin Patoine and his wife Tracy, their sons Andrew and Scott, her daughter Anna Edwardson, her husband Ken Edwardson, and their children Ella and Carl Edwardson, brothers David and James Ramsdell of Lyndonville, VT, sister Karen Skinner and her husband Mike of Concord, VT, brothers-in-laws Clem Patoine, Frank Patoine (and Elsie), Guy Patoine (and Millie), Andre Patoine as well as sisters-in-law Theresa Rayta (and Donald), Lucile Keene, Denise Adams (and Wendell), and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Malcolm Ramsdell, Evelyn Ramsdell, her sister Judith Cushman, and her husband Victor Patoine, as well as sisters-in-law Marguerite (and Raymond) Labree, Donna Patoine, Angie Deschamps (and Louis), brothers-in-law Leo Paul (and Jeanette) Patoine, Henry (and Theresa) Patoine, Norman (and Winifred) Patoine, Bernard (and Cecile) Patoine, Fernard (and Margaret) Patoine, and Lawrence Patoine.
Visitation will be held at the desGroseilliers Funeral Home, 97 Church Street, Hardwick on Thursday, October 10th from 6-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardwick on Friday, October 11th at 11:00am. Following Mass, Kathy will be buried next to her husband at Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick. A reception lunch following the burial will be provided at the Julian Room, St. Norbert's Catholic Church.
