Joyce Lillian (Mace) Davis

Joyce Lillian (Mace) Davis passed away peacefully Sunday May 14, 2023 at home surrounded by loved ones.

Joyce was born on September 20, 1936 to Frederick and Eva (Rule) Mace.  She grew up in White River Junction, Vermont where she met Gardner Davis.  They were married on August 8, 1959.  Gardner and Joyce had three children; Randall Scott Davis (09/28/1960), Wendy Sue (Davis) Simpson (07/13/1964), Denise Arlene (Davis) Barker (02/03/1967).

For many years Joyce was a stay at home Mom and often helped out on the farm that Gardner worked at.  In the early 1970's they moved to St. Johnsbury, Vermont and resided there for many years.  Joyce ran an in home daycare and had one special family that became her family, Karen Gammell and Angela Wheeler.  She loved having her house full of kids, many of those kids still call her Mama Joyce.  She went on to cleaning houses for people in the 1980's, driving from Barton, Vermont to Hanover, New Hampshire up until 5 years ago.  She did this for her special friends, Steven and Martha Richardson who also became a part of her family.  Joyce spent her last years enjoying her great grandchildren, her eyes would light up as soon as they would walk in the door.  Joyce leaves a huge hole in her families hearts.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Gardner; son, Randy; granddaughter, Heidi Davis; her ten brothers and sisters; seventeen sister and brother in laws and both of her parents. 

She is survived by her two daughters; Wendy (Michael) Simpson, whom she lived with and their two sons, Nicholas Davis of Florida, Dustan (Andrea) Palmer of Barnet and her great granddaughters Ellie Randall and Kayleigh Palmer,  Her daughter, Denise (Jeff) Barker of Post Mills, and their two sons, Travis (Jenna) Barker of Post Mills, Derek (Tori) Barker of Post Mills and her great grandsons, Cameron, Corbin, Levi, and Lincoln Barker.
