Jolie was born on December 31st, 1960, on a cold winter day at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Ohio. She spent her early years in Yellow Springs. This is where she developed her love for animals by spending time on the family farm.
In 1968, Jolie moved with her family from Yellow Springs Ohio to Hyde Park Vermont. Her time in Vermont was filled with making many memories with friends. While at Lamoille Union High School, she was known for her athleticism. She had a true gift in athletics, especially softball, which continued into her young adulthood.
Jolie graduated from Lamoille Union High School class of 1979. Once graduated, Jolie had multiple jobs, with one that led her to Texas, where she lived for several years. This is where she developed her love for the Dallas Cowboys. You could find her watching the games every Sunday. Once she moved back to Vermont, she found her true calling at DJ’s in Johnson. For many years, she worked for Jim and Daphne, alongside Gretchen. If you didn’t know Jolie before you walked in the door, you left with a new best friend. She was known for her Texas accent, her humor, her kindness, and her two long braids.
Throughout the years, Jolie enjoyed spending time with her family. Her brother Ron Belval and his wife Linda Belval of Morrisville, VT. Their three daughters Jessica Barbour and her husband Curt Barbour, Katie Belval and her partner David Tanner, and Annmarie Belval and her partner Andrew Desrochers, and her eleven great nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her mother Clara Belval, her Aunt Patty Alexander, and her Aunt and Godmother Madonna Belval, and her many cousins. She had many special friends throughout the years, too many to list. Jolie was predeceased by her father Paul Belval, her Uncle and Godfather Maurice (Corky) Belval, and many other beloved family members.
Jolie did not have children of her own, but anyone that knew her could see how much she adored her kitties Elsa, Savannah, Spooky, and Dallas.
A celebration of life will be held on May 31st from 1-4 pm at the Hyde Park VFW. Please show your love for Jolie by wearing yellow, Dallas Cowboy’s, Ohio state, or comfy athletic attire. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jolie’s name to Justice for Dogs or bring a donation to the celebration of life, as this is an organization that Jolie was passionate about.
