BERLIN- Jean Teresa McGlynn, 89, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed on to the Lord on February 20, 2020 at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.
Born in Barre, VT on August 23, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Louise (Bouchard) Carbonneau. She attended Barre Schools, after school she started work as a waitress in the Barre area. On May 17, 1947 she married the love of her life, Philip McGlynn at St. Monica’s Church and they made their home in Barre, Vermont and later moving to Graniteville. Phil died March 2, 1986.
Jean worked at Sprague Electric until her retirement. After her retirement, Jean’s favorite activities included going to garage sales and having coffee with her friends. Her smile and spunk were appreciated by all that knew her. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren, and loved spending time with both family in Vermont and Virginia. Before moving to Woodbridge in 2018 she made her home at the in-law apartment of her son‘s home so she was close to family.
Survivors include her brother Paul Carbonneau and wife Cecil, son Michael McGlynn, daughter Patricia Berghan and husband Gary, grandchildren, Suellen Bottiggi and husband Thomas, Shan McGlynn, Richard Thomas II and wife Holly, great grandchildren Caitlyn Bottiggi, Micah Thomas and Bodie Thomas as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur Carbonneau Jr, Roger Carbonneau, Lucien Carbonneau and six sisters (twin sister) Jeannine Lefebvre, Annette Gingras, Dorothy Gosselin, Alice Antontitis, Yvonne Smith and Pauline Bolio. Also predeceased by granddaughter Sonya McGlynn, daughter-in-law Marcia McGlynn and son-in-law Richard Thomas.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes to have her family from all over the world together for a Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of life, an 11am service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 79 Summer St., Barre, VT.
