Janis (Lafont) Dewey passed away on May 7, 2025. She was born on May 15th, 1950, the daughter of Kenneth and Edna (Pearl) Lafont. Janis graduated from Hardwick Academy and then from Johnson State College. After college, Janis joined the U.S Air Force and served as a Staff Sergeant weapons technician for three years. Following her service, she became a long-haul trucker for many years. Janis loved to haul and visited nearly every U.S. state, doing so. Janis also loved to travel internationally, exploring Australia, studying in London, and visiting many other European countries. Following her time trucking and traveling, Janis worked for the State of Vermont, retiring in 2015.
Janis leaves behind her brothers Dean (Colleen) Lafont and Brian Lafont, several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her very dear friend, Sue Slayton, and her beloved cat, Moji. Janis is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Dan Courcey, and a nephew, Dennis Lafont.
