Grace McPherson McIntosh Obituary

Grace Florence Tribby McPherson McIntosh passed away at the Greensboro Nursing Home On May 27th. She was 97 years old.
Grace was born to John and Anna K. Tribby on June 3, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY. Grace attended Leake and Watts School beginning at age 5. When Grace was 14, her mother enrolled her in the Scarborough School for Girls and there she met her future sisters-in-law, Joan and Martha McPherson, through whom she met her first husband, Simon John McPherson (fondly known as Sandy). Sandy and Grace married on June 12, 1943, and thus began their adventurous life together. They spent their early years in Fords NJ, but in 1955 began the first of several big moves. They lived in Columbus, Ohio; Westfield, NJ; Atlanta, GA; Avon, CT and finally to Morristown NJ. During all those moves Grace, who would always tell you that she likes to keep busy, led Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts for her children; was an active member of every church in each town and supported all her children's various hobbies.
Grace loved crocheting, knitting, sewing, gardening and any kind of craft. She possessed a great sense of humor, which got her and her family through many challenging times. Grace especially loved music and singing and joined the choir in every church they belonged to. Even in her later years with advanced dementia, if you gave her a few bars of a tune, she would sing the song to you.
In 1990 after 47 years of marriage Sandy passed away. On May 18, 1996, she married Andrew J. McIntosh. They had an active life, attending ballroom dance classes, working out at YMCA and traveling. In 2010 they moved to the Craftsbury Community Care Center to be close to Grace's youngest child and Andrew's son, in Maine. They made many friends at the Craftsbury Community Care Center and enjoyed church activities at Greensboro United Church and the Craftsbury Presbyterian Church.
Grace is survived by her children, John F. McPherson (spouse Dianne McPherson) of Atlanta, GA; her daughter, Sandra M. Stout of Sonoma, CA, and her daughter Anne McPherson (spouse Charles Emers) of East Hardwick, VT. Grace is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 21 Great-grandchildren and 2 Great- Great-grandchildren. Her son, James A. McPherson, predeceased her in 2013. Her second husband, Andrew J. McIntosh, predeceased her in 2015.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Greensboro Nursing Home for the excellent care and attention they gave Grace in her final years. Donations can be made in Grace’s honor to the Greensboro Nursing Home, 47 Maggies Pond Rd, Greensboro, VT 05841, or to Craftsbury Community Care Center, 1784 E. Craftsbury Rd, Craftdbury, VT 05826.
