It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved Everett Dubray at the Manor Nursing Home in Morrisville, Vermont, on November 30, 2025.
Everett was born in Johnson, VT, on November 3, 1934. He lived in Johnson for most of his life before moving to the Manor Nursing Home in Morrisville where he resided for the past five years.
He was the son of Roland Dubray and Gertrude (Dezaine) Dubray. Everett worked for Johnson Talc Mines for many years and later worked as an accountant for Vermont Electric Co-op, from which he retired. He was an active member of the American Legion for over 50 years. From 1954 to 1957, he served in the United States Army.
Everett loved hunting, fishing, and simply relaxing on a log in the woods. It was there that he befriended a squirrel, whom he named Red. For years, he returned weekly to that special spot. Everett would honk his horn twice, get out of his truck, and call out, “Red.” In leaps and bounds, Red would come running. Everett would sit on his special log and feed Red peanuts, keeping pounds of peanuts in the back of his truck just for him. This ritual continued for years, until Everett moved to the Manor and was no longer able to drive. He truly loved that squirrel.
Everett is survived by his brother, Jim Dubray of Johnson; his sister, Janet (Dubray) Sheltra, and her husband, Bernard Sheltra, also of Johnson.
He is also survived by his two sons, Robert Dubray and his wife, Hang, of Essex, Vermont, and Mark Dubray of Florida; and his daughters, Theresa (Dubray) Bilodeau and her husband, Matthew Bilodeau, of Fletcher, Vermont. He was predeceased by his daughter, Laurie Ann Dubray, who passed away at a very young age on February 24, 1961. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Brookes Schriber and her husband, Thomas Schriber, of Jeffersonville, Vermont, and Ryan Dubray and his wife, Erica, of Colorado; as well as six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many longtime friends.
The family extends many thanks to the home health care providers, with special thanks to the staff at the Manor, especially Stephanie Sweet.
