Christine May Foss, 84 years young of Hardwick VT, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, with family by her side. She was born on June 18, 1940, to Leon and Wilma (LaRouche) Eldred and attended Johnson Elementary School. Whilst raising 4 children, she worked hard to achieve a GED, after which she moved on to studies at CCV with a focus on Law & Private Investigation.
Christine married Lowell Allen in 1956 and from this marriage had one son, Garry Allen. In 1963, she married Everett Allen Foss and had three children from this marriage, Cindy Marie Foss, Barry Jay Foss, and Skot Michael Foss.
Christine came from an era where the mother stayed a homemaker, managing and caring for all the family and home. She was a superb cook and required the family to do everything the ‘right way’ with limited shortcuts. She loved knitting, crocheting, and making beautiful doilies large and small. Christine was truly an exquisite seamstress and in her later years worked for Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe as their In House Seamstress. There was absolutely nothing she could not fix or repair.
She is survived by her brother Harold Eldred and wife Nancy of Essex Jct., VT, her children Cindy Marie Foss and partner Michael Chase, Barry Jay Foss and Skot Michael Foss and his husband Garrett Bailey. Plus, five grandchildren: Sonya Cleary, Heather Rae Moore, Nikki Allen, Jason Allen and Eric Michael Foss, also 9 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Garry Allen.
Notably, Christine had an authentic colorful soul, full of a lot is spice, some easier to digest than others. She would always be seen wearing a floral scarf or broach, loved music and could square dance anyone off their feet. Some of her favorite things included the color red, crocus flowers, all owls and she loved writing and reading poetry.
‘The ship of my life may or may not be sailing on calm and amiable seas. The challenging days of my existence may or may not be bright and promising. Stormy or sunny days, glorious or lonely nights, I maintain an attitude of gratitude. If I insist on being pessimistic, there is always tomorrow. Today I am blessing’ -Maya Angelou
Christine’s faith, spirituality and beliefs as a Jehovah Witness were strong and ever present throughout her life and final passing. She is in God’s hands now. Services to be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, 38 Porter Brook Rd in Hardwick, VT on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 2 PM. All are welcome and invited to join.
