Casey Clifford Obituary

Casey Lynn (Suback) Clifford, 45, of Walden passed away at Copley Hospital in Morrisville on Saturday, December 16, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.

She was born in Mayfield Heights, Ohio on November 17, 1978, the daughter of Gary and Sharon (Podany) Suback. At that time, she joined an older sister Megan.

Casey was always headstrong and challenged herself and others to be their best at all times. She was a bright light in this life, full of joy and laughter, had a contagious smile and lots of sparkle. She was sporty, creative and supportive. She studied Theater Arts at Plattsburg State University graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree. She was an avid adventurer, enjoying camping, hiking, ice skating, skiing, gymnastics, traveling or meeting new people in new places.

Helping others came naturally to Casey and brought her much joy. She spent many years as a nanny, counselor, coach and companion, impacting the lives of children and adults she cared for through her creativity and nurturing. Always carrying bagsful of tricks, Casey was prepared for any occasion and had many art and craft projects going simultaneously. She was a seamstress, using her talent to whip up costumes and clothing. She loved music of all kinds and attended live music events and craft fairs, both as a participant as well as an observer. She built community connections, bringing people together, creating joy under any circumstances.

Casey’s greatest pride was being mother to her daughter Rylee, her son Hunter and wife of Peter Clifford. Her quirky love of cows, earned her the Trail Name of “Cowsie” and marrying a dairy farmer was ‘perfect’. Nature was her happy place and she added to her life adventure by hunting, fishing, gardening and frequenting tag sales with her family.

Casey is survived by her husband Peter and their children Rylee and Hunter of Walden, her parents Gary and Sherrie Suback of Beaufort, SC, her sister Megan Silver (James) and (children) Yasmine, Elisha, Dylan, Jacob and Tobias of Cleveland, TN and a “sisterhood” of very loving and devoted friends. She is also survived by her in-laws, Francis (Bud) and Judy Clifford of Walden.

A Celebration of Life with take place on Mothers’ Day, May 12, 2024.
