Obituary
Morrisville, Vermont - Ann Dwyer (Workman) passed peacefully among friends at The Manor in Morrisville, VT on May 15th, 2021, after a long, fulfilling life. Born on December 22, 1936 in Suzhou China to Methodist missionaries, she, her sister Sarah and her parents fled when Japan attacked in WWII. Her parents, George and Eliza Workman had built the Peking YMCA, loved the people of China, and narrowly escaped the subsequent Communist takeover. Later they were reassigned to India where Ann attended high school at the Woodstock International School in the Himalayan mountains of India.
With parents still serving in the field, she returned to the States where she graduated from Albion College in Ann Arbor MI. There she met and married Rod Dwyer, growing their family with sons Erik and Colin. A schoolteacher and fantastic cook, she was passionate about healthy living and finding joy in everyday life.
The last 35 years of her life, Ann traveled the world and reveled in a harmonious and bustling home life among friends with her second husband, Tom McKenna in Montpelier and Stowe, VT.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Sarah. Husband Tom passed recently, and she is survived by her sons Erik and Colin. A burial service will be held 1 pm on 1 September 2022 at the Underhill Flats Cemetery, gathering afterward Innsbruck Inn in Stowe to share stories pictures and memories.
