Alma Nay Draper of Morrisville, Vermont passed away on January 22, 2024. Alma was born November 4th, 1946, to the late Perry and Helen (Adams) Nay of Stowe, Vermont.
Alma, affectionately known as “Fudd” to many of her classmates and friends, graduated from Stowe High School in 1964, where she was voted most musical and active in Band, Glee Club, Future Homemakers of America, Yearbook Staff, Prom Committee, Senior Play, and Ski Program. She went on to college in New Hampshire where she studied to become a Medical Secretary. After graduating two years from college in 1966, she started work at Copley Hospital and then Dr Jacobs medical office in Morrisville. She went on to become employed at Lamoille County Mental Health and then Laraway Youth and Family Services in Johnson.
After retirement, she volunteered at the Lanpher Memorial Library in Hyde Park where she was known as a straight shooter and acquired many friends who enjoyed her wonderful sense of humor. She was a long-time member at the Puffer Methodist Church in Morrisville donating her time and baking cookies for events.
Alma was an avid reader and enjoyed her flower gardens and going for walks in the late afternoon, especially under the setting sun. One of her favorite walks was the Stowe bike trail where her and her sister would reminisce about being lost in a corn maze. She loved the trips to Maine every summer with her tops group and sitting out on the porch visiting with her friends at Copley Terrace where she lived. Her fondest childhood memories were of Nebraska Valley in Stowe, where her family and cousins made wonderful memories together.
Alma was especially grateful for her grandchildren and great granddaughters whom she loved dearly. Her beloved cat Abner was a very special companion that brought her great comfort and joy.
She is survived by her daughters Kelly Bradley and Jill Draper, her sister Lila Johnson and husband Jay, her brother Calvin Nay, her grandchildren Luke Salvas, Jade Salvas, Sam Bradley, and Dallas Bradley, her two great granddaughters, Leonora Salvas and Wylla Barnard.
Alma is predeceased by her parents Perry and Helen Nay of Stowe and former husband Jonathan Draper of Morrisville.
