Judith Deming Obituary

HARDWICK-  Judith Ann Walker Deming passed away March 2, 2019, after a brief bout with cancer previously unknown to her family.  Born in Burlington to Harold and Pauline Walker of Nebraska Valley in Stowe, she was a steady hand and heart to lean on at the dairy farm.  Following her 1964 Stowe High School graduation she became a registered nurse, graduating from Mary Fletcher School of Nursing in 1967. Also in the spring of that year she married her one true love, Russell W. Deming of New Russia, NY.

The next forty plus years of her professional life were split between Lamoille and Caledonia counties providing loving care for the elderly.  Throughout her nursing career she found the time and energy to help run both a successful chainsaw business and a surveying and land clearing business (not to mention a chainsaw and bulldozer in the log yard) with her husband Russell.  She devoted her time and love to raising their two daughters in a life of gardening, canning, firewood, hiking, fishing, and camping.

Settling into retirement, Judith continued to refine her incredible talent with a sewing machine, selling crafts at local fairs and gifting her wares to lucky families.  Many babies have had their first year catalogued in her fabric-covered albums. Judith loved nothing more than to ride around the North country exploring with her husband.  Very private and happy to sew at her dining room table, she believed in family connectedness and learned right away from her grandchildren how to navigate social media.

Surviving Judith are her husband Russell, her daughter Holly and spouse of Colchester, her daughter Heather and partner of East Hardwick and Judith's five siblings and their spouses: David Walker of Stowe, Penny Reen of Morrisville, Kathy Renaud of Hardwick, Vern Walker of Virginia and Mark Walker of Morrisville.  Judith was especially dedicated to her four grandchildren who will miss her dearly in sharing their big life moments. Judith is loved by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and those who spent time working with her in the care of others.

Arrangements are in the care of the des Groseilliers Funeral Home.  With respect for Judith's wishes there will be no services held. Instead, family and friends will hold a celebration of life in the spring.  Those wishing to share condolences or memories with the family may do so at dgfunerals.com.
